Duran Duran are arguably one of the biggest bands to emerge from the 1980's! Their unique merge of pop, rock and new wave gave them top spot on the mainstream radio. Their good looks and charisma led to them becoming true Teen icons. Their groundbreaking music videos like "Girls on Film" and "The Chauffeur" sparked controversy in England over their sexual content, their best-known clips were often based on hit contemporary movies.
In May 1982, Duran Duran released their second and arguably their biggest album, 'Rio', the record scored them four UK Top Twenty singles with "My Own Way", "Hungry Like The Wolf", "Save A Prayer", and the title song "Rio". The album rocketed into the mainstream and instantly received positive reviews from fans all across the globe, as well as famous celebrities and public figures.
Diana, Princess of Wales declared Duran Duran her favorite band, and the band were titled as "The Fab Five" by the British press, comparing them to the Beatles whose nickname was The Fab Four.
