The Washington Post hails this as musical event as: “[A] Classical musicmaking rarely achieves this combination of spontaneity and superb craftsmanship.”

Yo-Yo Ma is undoubtedly one of the most celebrated and prodigiously talented artists that walked the earth. He is also one musician who brought 'cool' in classical, due to his eclectic and close to daring fusions of classical music with folk, American bluegrass, Chinese melodies, tangos, and rhythmic Brazillian sounds. He was literally a child prodigy who performed before prominent figures like Presidents Dwight D. Eisenhower and John F. Kennedy when he was seven. His phenomenal streak spawned over 90 albums to his name, and 18 of which are Grammy winners. Since 2006, he has been a United Nations Messenger of Peace. He does not bask in the glory alone. Yo-Yo Ma founded the Silk Road ensemble. A non-profit organizatio that promotes collaboration among artists, aiming at a multicultural artistic collaboration. It aims to "connect[s] musicians, composers, artists and audiences around the world".
