Canadian lo-Fi oddball Mac DeMarco is releasing a new album in May of this year, and will be coming to Greek Theatre Berkeley on Friday 8th September 2017 to promote it! The LP, called This Old Dog, marks a change in direction for DeMarco, so fans can enjoy something a little more stripped down than usual:
"The majority of this album is acoustic guitar, synthesizer, some drum machine, and one song is electric guitar. So this is a new thing for me," DeMarco added. "This is my acoustic album, but it's not really an acoustic album at all. That's just what it feels like, mostly. I'm Italian, so I guess this is an Italian rock record."
Canadian indie-rock artist Mac DeMarco released his debut self-produced album Heat Wave in 2009, under the name Makeout Videotape. After a stint signed to Unfamiliar Records, and a tour with Vancouver band Japandroids, DeMarco moved from Vancouver to Montreal to begin recording as a solo artist in 2011. Early 2012 saw the release of an EP titled Rock and Roll Night Club, which caught the attention of Capture Records, with whom he released his debut studio album, 2. Since then, DeMarco has released two more studio albums, and his upcoming album is slated for release in May 2017.
