SO folks - here’s the deal. The Alabama Shakes are pulling up to Berkeley this Friday, May 29th, AND Saturday the 30th for a whole weekend rager with just us and the music : and trust us, you’re gonna want to be ready for this one folks. An early summer scripture at the church, a block party, and a rock-and-roll revival all rolled into one - this is… the best way to start the summer quite honestly, and thank god for this one. Two nights at one of California’s most iconic outdoor venues, with the Shakes taking over the hillside and reminding everybody exactly why their comeback has been one of the most talked-about returns in modern rock. Cool night air, lights over the trees, a crowd that knows every word - this is the kind of setting their music was built for, and thank god we’re here to see it all when it goes down for me you and the crew.
After years away, Alabama Shakes aren’t just quietly coming back to the scene - they’re taking it on like they never left. Their return to the stage has been met with packed houses, emotional sing-alongs, and a level of energy that feels more like a reunion every time they start to riff on stage. formed in Athens, Alabama in 2009 - so the name checks out if you weren’t in the know. From the moment they came together, it was clear something special was brewing between the vocals from frontman powerhouse Brittany Howard, alongside her crew guitarist Heath Fogg and bassist Zac Cockrell. When they started out, the group began humbly as a Friday-night bar band grinding through the American Southeast and trying to make anything catch fire for their sparks. The slow burn paid off - and with their 2012 debut album Boys & Girls, a record that earned widespread critical acclaim - they earned three Grammy nominations, launched the band into months of touring in front of hundreds of thousands of rock fans across the globe, and the rest was history from there. And now? They’re finally BACK with a line up of whole new material - and THAT folks is why you need to see them here live when it all goes down for the first night here at the Greek.
So yeah, need we say more?! May 29th right here on the dance floor - don’t get FOMO’d out this time around, okay?! Grab your crew - see you real soon.
