Alabama Shakes’ Brittany Howard and Michael Kiwanuka are teaming up this fall for a North American tour. The American and British singer-songwriters will bring the talented acoustic fingerstyle guitarist Yasmin Williams along for the trek. The What Now Tour kicks things off on September 29 in Philadelphia, and makes its way to the iconic Greek Theatre Berkeley in California on October 17. The tour comes hot off the heels of Brittany Howard’s new track. In April, the star dropped her song “Fire Inside” from the animated Netflix film Thelma the Unicorn, and we’re obsessed! She also released her second solo album, What Now, this February, featuring awesome new hits like “Earth Sign,” “Another Day,” and “Red Flags.” “Dancefloor bangers, vintage soul, joyous funk… the winningly candid Alabama Shakes frontwoman mixes it up to perfection on her second solo album,” says The Guardian. Brittany Howard is really hot in the scene right now. As well as this huge co-headlining tour, she’s headlining Chicago’s esteemed Pitchfork Music Festival in July.

Also joining the stage is Michael Kiwanuka. With his acoustic sound, timelessly soulful voice, and charming stage presence, this British singer songwriter is the perfect co-headliner for this trek. The star burst into the mainstream in 2011 for his unique blend of folk, indie rock, and R&B with traditions borrowed from his Ugandan roots. And he’s been a staple in the scene since! Over the years, Michael Kiwanuka has carved up a distinctive sound that exudes Curtis Mayfield, Terry Callier, and Van Morrison, with a signature edge. His music is so outstanding that he snagged a Mercury Prize nomination for his debut album, 2012's Home Again, and was crowned the BBC's Sound of 2012. He followed this success up with 2016's Love & Hate. This sophomore album went gold, landing at #1 in the U.K. His 2019 full-length Kiwanuka was also such a hit with listeners that it took home 2020's Mercury Prize.

Mark your calendars, secure your places, and party with Brittany Howard, Michael Kiwanuka, and special guest Yasmin Williams this fall!
