Chaz Bear, otherwise known as Toro y Moi, is a singer, songwriter, and record producer that spearheaded the chillwave genre in the 2010s. The trailblazer recently dropped the record Sandhills, and it’s a banger! Both a tender love letter to the star’s hometown of Columbia, South Carolina, and a moving, bittersweet acceptance that you can never really go back home, Sandhills is an EP that’s taking over Spotify. Taking appreciation from Sufjan Stevens indie folk album Seven Swans and Karen O’s soundtrack efforts for ‘Where The Wild Things Are,’ this five-track folk-pop album is kinda a Saturn return, reminiscent of Toro y Moi’s first homespun CD-Rs. Joining the star at the Greek Theatre Berkeley this summer is the undeniably talented Adam Aminé Daniel. Known as simply Aminé, this rapper, singer, and songwriter first hit mainstream with his debut single, "Caroline", which peaked at #11 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. The Portland-based West Coast hip hop sensation has also got big things in store for him. In 2023, Aminé got together with industry heavyweight Kaytranada and released "4eva." Featuring Pharrell Williams, this is the first hit single from their joint album. What’s more, Aminé also starred in the track "C'mon" by South Korean singer Jini from the EP An Iron Hand in a Velvet Glove.
