Coheed and Cambria have been telling intriguing stories that coincide with their music. With every album release, the band connects it to a science fiction series called The Amory Wars. Created by frontman Claudio Sanches, the story’s chapters are narrated through their music’s lyrics. Fans will also find musical and lyrical cues, recurring melodies, and critical references to the Amory Wars mythology.

The band’s latest album Vaxis – Act II: A Window of the Waking Mind, sequel to Vaxis – Act I: The Unheavenly Creatures, tells a story about two heroes running away from oppressive forces. The album contains singles, “Hallelujah Quarantine,” “Rise, Naianasha (Cut the Cord)," and “The Liars Club.”

The release of “The Liars Club” includes an animated video that shows the introduction to Vaxis II. Claudio vaguely explained the opening chapter during an interview. “When the truth is such a mess, who doesn’t want to live out a different reality? Who doesn’t want to embrace a lie?” Fans would have to listen to the entire album and read the graphic novel to find out more.

For two decades, Coheed and Cambria have broken barriers between genres by blending rock, punk, alternative, heavy metal, and post-hardcore into their music style. They named Led Zeppelin, The Police, Queen, and Thin Lizzy as their influences. Tickets to see Coheed and Cambria at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley on Sunday 14th August 2022 are now available.
